Dear ‘Tough’ Girls,

I want to know what happened to being a lady. And no, I don’t mean doing laundry, being in the kitchen 24/7, ‘not knowing how to drive properly’, or god forbid making sandwiches. I mean a lady. A woman who knows when it’s appropriate to be classy and when it’s accepted to be trashy. What happened to being a lady? To being gentle and nurturing. All I see on Facebook, twitter, any social network really, are girls expressing how they’ll ‘kick the shit’ out of someone for something as trivial as calling them a ‘whore’ or disagreeing with something they said. Really girls? You have to fight someone to show how tough you are? To prove a point? It’s pretty easy to say it behind a computer screen, and for those of you who actually act on your threats, you’re no better. Do you like having friends scared of you? Is it cool to beat someone up because of how they think or feel about you? Agree to disagree. DISCUSS it, if it’s that important to you. Use your words. You’re a lady. Act like one. There are women in the world, women, that are remembered for standing up for what they believe and getting justice. How? Words. You know what you’ll be remembered for? ‘That bitch that picks a fight with everyone.’I understand if you’re in a confrontation, say if someone corners you in an ally or is abusing you. Yes, by all means, scream, kick, yell, and punch. But for something so small and pointless as you and your girlfriends not getting along? Grow up. Be a lady. Have some respect for yourself for goodness sake.

And one last thing; don’t think this little rant is only directed towards you. You are not the only ‘tough’ chick around. Don’t be so self-centered. Don’t like what I wrote? Fine, ignore it. Don’t like what people say about you? Fine, ignore it. If it starts to interfere with your friendships or your job, do something about it. By talking. You don’t need to start a fight that will just get you into more trouble and give you an even worse ‘rep’.

Be. A. Lady.
